#1 Tips

What are the pro tips for the most successful electrolysis treatments?

  • Drink plenty of water! This will help the treatments be more effective. Avoid caffeine, soda, alcohol, tea.

  • Do not wax, tweeze, or thread the hars between treatments. To remove hairs between treatments, you may shave or cut them.

  • Multi-task! Store your aloe in the fridge so it is also cooling when applied post-treatment.

  • Note how long it takes for your hairs to regrow, make sure the hairs are AT LEAST 2-3mm. Long at the time of your treatment.

  • Build an exfoliation routine. This will help to prevent ingrown hairs, this is important since it will likely be needed mid-way through your treatment regimen.

  • SPF! Always! Avoid the sun for 2-3 days before your treatment so you do not have any sunburn.

  • Don’t use any irritating topicals for 3-5 days before your treatments, this includes retinols, retinoids, AHA’s, BHA’s, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, etc.

  • CONSISTENCY! Life happens and may get in the way, but honor this commitment to yourself. You chose to permanently rid yourself of these hairs, they did not grow overnight (although it feels like it sometimes, believe me, I know!) and they will not be gone in the blink of an eye (unfortunately). Follow your treatment regimen, make it become a part of your routine, if you have to miss a treatment because you are running late, an unexpected sickness, snow day, or you just want to take a day off that is totally OK! But when you cancel that treatment, immediately schedule your next if you haven’t already. PRO TIP: Schedule your treatments out for the month or 4 treatments ahead of time, so it is “set in stone” and won’t be forgotten about or put on the back burner.

  • Take a picture of your treatment before you start, with hairs grown. Look back at this picture to motivate you and remind you of where you started and the progress you have made. Keep going, you got this!

  • Bring ice with you to your treatment so you may ice on the way home; saying it again because repetition is key - store your aloe in the fridge so you have additional cooling.

  • Take OTC pain relievers such as ibuprofen (unless your PCP has told you otherwise) and Zyrtec OTC (not Zyrtec D) before and as directed post-treatment to help with pain and redness.

  • Avoid heavy, oily, occlusive topical products such as Aquaphor, Vaseline, coconut oil, etc.
